Google Store now prices matches in 23 new countries alongside the U.S.

Unlike Apple, Google frequently drops the prices of its flagship smartphones. Back in April, Google dropped the prices of its latest flagship — the Pixel 4 series — by a massive $300, bringing it down to just $499 for the smaller model and $500 for the XL. And these massive discounts are available across a range of retailers in the U.S. including Amazon, Best Buy, Target, Walmart besides the official Google Store. Google also offers price matching to ensure its products have consistent pricing and also allows users to raise requests for credit for 15 days after they purchase any item. Now, the company is extending price matching to 23 other countries and adding a new retailer for the U.S.

In the U.S., Google will now also consider B&H along with the four existing retailers as per new price matching rules. In the UK, consumers can enjoy similar price matching from retailers such as Argos, Amazon, Currys, and John Lewis. Just like in the U.S., they can also request a credit or refund if the prices of the product fall within 15 calendar days of their purchase (or what Google calls a buyer’s remorse period).

The list of other countries besides the UK where the service is now available includes:

  • Australia
  • Austria
  • Belgium
  • Canada
  • Denmark
  • Finland
  • France
  • Germany
  • Ireland
  • Italy
  • Japan
  • Netherlands
  • New Zealand
  • Norway
  • Portugal
  • Puerto Rico
  • Singapore
  • South Korea
  • Spain
  • Sweden
  • Switzerland
  • Taiwan

For conditions that apply to the new price matching policy, you can visit the dedicated support page. At the bottom of the page, you can also find out the retailers that are eligible by choosing your country. Do note that the offer is only applicable if you’re in the same country and offers from other countries will not be valid, even if the two countries use the same currency.

The decision is definitely exciting and the parity it brings in terms of product prices across retailers should definitely help cut down on predatory discounts while also giving users the sense of assurance that they’re getting the best price for their devices.
